Scott Spiers If you need a break from power chords and mystical musings from Mammoths and Goats and don't mind some quirky mashups of almost every sub genre of rock since 1981, this is for you. In fact, for a select group of adventurous souls, this might make your Top 10 for the year and wind up on half a dozen of your playlists. Favorite track: Pyrokinetic.

Andy K. Holy dismal, abysmal, no hope hellscape Batman. The most beautiful way you’ll ever hear despair conveyed.
It’s glorious isn’t it?

1.
Sinking into this hole to find how deep that it goes. Wave to those passing me by, last time they'll see me alive. My blood is running cold, flowing hair is turned to snow. Spirits on the radio. The story's being told as events they unfold. The sickness taking hold. Nothing but void can I see. All space and time inside me. Influence reaches the stars. Powerless each of us are. My soul it splits apart, floating pieces bleeding heart. Life is imitating art. Who could foresee the end comes back around again? The truth to comprehend, you reap what you sow.
2.
600 Years 03:08
Fire reaching high into the sky. Flames dance in the night before they die. Show me the way before the day. Sunlight takes you away, leaves me in pain. I wander alone once comes the dawn. Life has no meaning for me, I'm already gone. I hide in your halls, wait for the call. Try to remember you before The Fall. Story's been told, 600 years old. Ate of The Serpent's Heart, glimmering gold. Sleep calls to you with morning dew. Rest easy Ancient One, I'll watch over you.
3.
Common Sense 03:57
My knives are sharpening, blue skies are darkening, our time is short. Cold winter is on its way, entertained by the shadow's play, for five cents a quart. The angels falling from the sky. They crash and burn I testify. I'm deafened by their battle cries. Horrific visions that I see broadcast on HDTV. Avoid the walking dead, and the dragon with seven heads! I pinch myself am I asleep? Pray the Lord my soul to keep. I've always known just what's at stake - my common sense served on a plate.
4.
The wheel of time it goes. The depths of what it knows. Like falling in a hole. Relinquishing control. The light's so far away, no hope to disobey. Coming home. They've set a place for you. Beautiful doom. The fairy tale is told, a soul is bought and sold. You journey down the road, reduced to skin and bone. A walking skeleton all out of medicine. Lost your way. The end is coming soon. Beautiful doom.

Chopping Me 03:54
Molly Hatchet sing to me. Sing lonely, sing free, speak to me Molly Hatchet. Sharpening. Axe swinging, freely, chopping me. My heart keeps beating on the floor. Faced with memories of before. Yes/No opening the door. Learning secrets living never know. Molly Hatchet, crawl to me. Crawl slowly, menses, hands and knees. Lonely nights, company by candlelight. Painting pictures. Moonlight shining bright. Open doors, what am I fighting for? Destination into the unknown. Dripping blood, sacrifice the one. Summon spirits, conscious will is gone.
7.
They're coming round the bend they're foaming at the nose and mouth now. They hear my beating heart they wanna eat my stinking face off. I'm running fast as I can careful not to trip and bite it. I laced my shoes up tight, will I make it home alive? Gotta make it home, get through the catacombs. Find out what they know, the Mutant Dynamo! They make the sickest sounds like suffocating on your vomit. Somehow they still survive they huddle round that radiation. Magnetic overload, meter's going off the charts now. I'm in the twilight zone, focus hard to get back home. Buggers look so slow until they up and go. Keep my enemies close, the Mutant Dynamo! I'm baptized in the slime, eat glow worms just to stay alive. I'm dying to the core just like my teachers told me so. Is my skin melting off, bacteria infecting all? No Zombie Commando, I'm the Mutant Dynamo!

Pyrokinetic 03:31
Batten down the hatches, they come to take you away. Where were you last Friday night when shit went down? Somebody stole the matches, hot as hell and bright as day. You look like you got in a fight, shit went down! You know this is a small town. Every time I turn my back, why can't you kids get along? You really fucked it up this time, fire spread the damage done. You say you started it with your mind?! Shit went down! When the fire was burning bright at 666 Fahrenheit. And Molotov cocktails explode, they heard it in the next zip code. Whatchya gonna do to make it right? Get on your knees and come into the light - something's wrong with your genetics, how'd you get so pyrokinetic?
9.
Lord have mercy on me tonight, another night home alone. Things that creep behind the walls in these abandoned halls. Childhood demons beckon me from behind closed doors. The stories that have stayed with me grow stronger than I can ever be. I search to see cities of gold. Disillusioned in seclusion. Struggle to maintain self-control. Medicated, desecrated. Prayers that echo back to me, screaming into the Void. Emptiness encompassing as far as I can see. Promises they made in vain. They told lies because they just didn't know. So many live and die in pain, spared another tomorrow.

about

Sophomore album from Toledo, Ohio's doom duo Hope Hole. We see the band exploring a more psychedelic terrain with synthesizer accents, as well as tuning down a half step from the debut "Death Can Change". Cognitive friction and PTSD recovering from religious indoctrinations of youth. Christopher Hitchens is sorely missed. Album artwork once again by Jason Ward, check him out at www.instagram.com/the_universal_constant/

about

Hope Hole Toledo, Ohio

Once upon a time there was hope. Until we threw it all down that hole over there.
Come closer. Lie down in the dirt. Hang your head over the edge of the abyss. Do you hear that? It calls. What sweet music they make.
Hope Hole is Matt Snyder and Mike Mullholand. We take our inspiration from the uninspired, the enlightened who know there's no escape. No one here gets out...
